Here, I give you the simplest, easiest, flakiest, tastiest pie crust recipe around. It’s easy and delicious and always a crowd-pleaser. This recipe will leave people praising your pies this whole holiday season. The best part is this recipe makes an extra piecrust, so you can freeze one and pull it out whenever you want to impress someone. Happy pie making! Oh yeah, I also included the delicious recipe for apple blackberry pie. I will do more posts very soon on fun ways to decorate the top of your pies. For this one I opted for a more rustic look! Enjoy!
You will need:
1/3 cup cold water
1 1/2 tablespoons distilled white vinegar
2 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/4 teaspoons salt
1 sticks cold butter, cut into small cubes
7 green apples
2 1/4 cups frozen or fresh blackberries
2 tablespoons corn starch
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar
In a bowl add 1/3 cup cold water.
To the water ad 1 1/2 tablespoons distilled white vinegar and refrigerate while you begin the dough.
In a bowl add the following: 2 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/4 teaspoons salt
2 sticks (8 ounces) cold butter, cut into small cubes
Put in electric mixer and beat until butter is size of peppercorns and others the size of peas.
Slowly add the cold water and vinegar mixture. Keep mixing until the dough comes together.
Be careful to not over work the dough. Make dough into one ball.
Cut in half and refrigerate for about 30 minutes before using.
Peel the apples
Cut with apple slicer, then cut the apples in half.
In a separate bowl add the following: 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons of sugar
2 tablespoons of cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon of salt
add and stir to blackberries and apples
Roll out the refrigerated dough BE CAREFUL NOT TO STRECH THE DOUGH! Stretching the dough is no good, just gently roll out.
Using my remaining dough for the top of the pie I cut out letters. You can do whatever you want to the top of your pie I will do more tutorials on that later!
Add extra cubes of butter into the mix before baking
dust the top with egg and sanding sugar
